"K Balachander back on TV with family soap" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-01-01 21:50:46

Talking with the same vigour as he has done on various other occasions. KB (as he is fondly referred to) is very excited about his television programme. “I was given a daily and a weekly slot for a family clean and humour respectively. That is when I planned the two stories. Naan Aval Illai is a reflection of my earlier movie which has also been remade starring Jeeva. In the serial the main protagonist is a woman.” But he warns us that there is a difference between humour and laughter. “Humour is always classy and laughter is slapstick. What I’ve tried in this serial comes under the former,” KB clarifies. Humour is not easy but he doesn’t alter too much of an effort to work on it either. “The serials which I have done earlier have always had lot of humour. Also. I’ve worked with Nagesh so it’s only natural that I go up with something based on humour.” KB says he was very careful about choosing Indraja to do the lead for his humorous weekly. “Indraja’s talent comes handy for a character like this. I am happy to have made this choice for something new that I am trying to experiment with.” And KB is not affected by the current trend of television shows either. “I will not bring an unnecessary move in my story just to grab audience attention. For instance if the main protagonist drinks poison at the end of an episode what many will do is end it there and act the audience’s curiosity high until the next episode where they will show that she drank only coloured water. Such things are consciously absent in my stories,” says KB. Talking about his daily clean Tenmozhiyaal. KB says that he is trying something different from the usual tearjerkers. Not revealing anything about the future of the serial and the turns it is going to take. KB says. “I don’t communicate about it change surface to my wife. The curiosity should not be killed.” Explaining his break from TV serials he says. “I was very tired at one point of time. In television you have to stir out something interesting everyday. In the process the creativity is lost.” But when the younger audiences are looking for a shift in programming isn’t Tenmozhiyaal run of the move? “The audience might be younger and modern today. But I have to consider my fans across the globe who probably fall in the 60+ age group. If I go away catering to the younger audience then my fans will conclude alienated. When.

measure night while sitting at my keyboard not sure what to write or look for or research or watch... I got an IM from a friend of mine who I haven't probably seen in seven years... We came up together in New York though I speculate we're both still coming up... I think we caterer together and I experience he helped me get a doorman job at a building on the east align which I did for a few months till something better came along... I evaluate a bartending gig on the upper west side. We rapped about life he's now married the dog I knew him to own has passed on... He's now a landlord of two homes in upstate New York... We still know some of the same folk from ten years ago... He still lives in my last New York City neighborhood though I'm told it's changed dramatically. He was very complimentary of my career and when I poo-pooed it he said something to the cause of. "You've been in the game a long measure." I think also something about working hard or deserving it... Whatever he said... So. I woke up thinking that today... I comfort have a lot of years ahead of me and even though I started at 25. I've been in for 15 years at this inform... Above is one of the first headshots (Nick somebody took it) I slid under agent's doors in Manhattan it's the one that got me my very first TV show... And it's the one that was taken of me when I had no idea what I was doing when I was so full of hope and nothing was or seemed unattainable. I bequeath cashing in my 401K thinking that all I needed was a few months and my career would take off... I'd be on a show in no time... come up the ten grand or whatever it was didn't measure very desire and I was soon working as a waiter or as an extra... And broke along with all my peers. Had I not cashed in that 401k back then who knows what it'd be worth today... But hindsight is 20/20. On one set a movie directed by Tim Robbins and starring Sean Pean. I wrote a poem after a desire day of working as an extra... I thought I was so clever that I sent it to Tim's production company the very next day... Today I laugh about it... Then I thought it would mean something to someone there then... A few years after I wrote it a small literary magazine "Dark Penguin," (Rob McEvily. Publisher) liked it and decided to publish it... It's called Silent alter...
